Mehregan Prize secretariat office declared the names of the jury members and the number of evaluated works in two sections of “Mehregan of Literature” and “Mehregan of Science”; it also explained about “Mehregan Mother Tongue Literature” evaluation of published literary works abroad.
In the section of Mehregan of Literature 1849 first-print novels and short story collections of 2021 and 2022 have been evaluated and in the section of Mehregan of science 172 titles of first-print scientific-ecological books have been surveyed and evaluated, too.
In the part of Mehregan of Literature, also, the resume and function of 112 NGOs in 2021 and 2022 were dealt with; the number, in proportion to previous years, conveyed substantive growth.
Evaluation of the works in the section of Mehregan Literary Prize was performed in two stages withh the collaboration of 12 jury members; in the section of Mehregan of Science, 7 people were in charge of investigating the books and the functional activities of the NGOs.
In the introductory stage, Tala Nejad Hassan, Mani Parsa, Soudabeh Solgi, Kamran Salimian-e Moghaddam and Arezoo Charbdast; and in the final stage Helen Ouliaeinia, Hossein Atash Parvar, Ghobad-e Azar Aeein, Aboutorab-e Khosravi, Mohammad Keshavarz, Alireza Abiz and Siavash Golshiri judged and evaluated the works.
Evaluation of Mehregan Science Prize were also done by Hooshang-e Ziaei, Abdolhossein Vahhab Zadeh, Mohammad-e Darvish, Zahra Ghelichi Pour, Bahram-e Moalemi, Nosratollah-e Safaeian, Maryam-e Shahbazi.
Alireza Zargar, founder and director of Mehregan Prize, pointing to shortcomings and problems that challenged the survival of the oldest, independent and private Prize of Iran with serious problems, said: “The call for works for the 25th and 26th courses for 2024 and 2025 will be announced in the next few days. I hope the social and cultural circumstances will be appropriate enough to resume our activities.’’
Hel explained about the evaluation of the works in the section of Mehregan mother tongue literature, as well: “There were supposed to be some modifications in the agenda of this section and with the assistance of native jury members; this policy could promote the quality of evaluation and also would lead to the mother tongue writers’ and speakers’ satisfaction. Yet, our restrictions, on the one hand, and the existing sensitivity of this section of competition compelled us to continue the same previous routine this time too.
According to the account of Mehregan Secretariat office, from 1849 of evaluated works in Mehregan of Literature, 118 first-print novels and short story collections abroad have been assessed too. In this course of Mehregan Prize, published works inside and outside of Iran have been consistently and commonly evaluated. The long list of selected works of Mehregan Prize in different sections will be readily announced in future.

Mehregan Prize Secretariat Office announced the evaluation results of 1849 titles of book, including 1022 novels and 827 first- print short story collections of 2020-202. In this period, 118 first-print novels and short-story collections, published overseas, were assessed as well.
These works were scrutinized by twelve jury members (five jury members in the rudimentary stage and seven members of the final stage) during 19 months and, thus, 21 novels and 21 short-story collections have now entered the long list of Mehregan Prize of Literature through the votes of the majority of jury members.
Evaluation of the elementary stage of Mehregan Prize of Literature has been carried out by Tala Nejad Hassan, Mani Parsa, Soudabeh Solgi, Kamran-e Soleimanian-e Moghaddam and Arezoo Charbdast, and also Helen Ouliaeinia, Hossein-e Atashparvar, Ghobade Azar Aein, Aboutorab-e Khosravi, Mohammad-e Keshavarz, Alireza Abiz and Siavash-e Golshiri handled the final stage of validation and judgment.
According to the report of Mehregan Prize Secretariat Office, in this period, due to the limitation of the number of published titles in the area of mother-tongue literature, the long list of this section will not be declared; the selected works will be announced simultaneously with the final ceremony of Mehregan Prize of Literature awards.
Alireza Zargar, the founder of Mehregan Prize, pointing to the critical conditions in today’s Iran, and the double-hardship for the activities of independent cultural establishments, said: “Literature is a bridge to transcend pains and sufferings. Now I am delighted that, thanks to the reverend jury members’ congeniality and collaboration, The selected literary works of this course are introduced and awarded.
Mehregan Prize Secretariat Office will announce the call for works for twenty-fifth and twenty-sixth courses until the end of July.
