The Mehregan Prize for Science was granted to the best ecological-scientific work on October 2000.
In later years, two other sections were added; Mehregan Prize for Science for “A life-time attempt in the field of Ecology” is usually granted to the most active writer or influential and prominent activitist in the field of Ecology; Mehregan Prize of Science is given to the “most superior NGO” in Iran. The objective of this prize is to encourage Iranian NGO’s to promote their educational and distributive activities to attract corporation of local communities and contribute to formation of more advanced NGO’s.

In these years due to the limitations of book titles in the field of ecology and with the recognition of the board of the Jury, this prize was not presented. Mehregan Prize for science have resumed biannually since 2011.
The Eighth and Nineth Courses | 2011-2012 (biannual):

Considering all the published first-print books, The Jury found none of the edited or translated works deserving Mehregan Prize in these years.
With regard to previous experience and this course of Mehregan Prize which signified the limitation of the book titles and low quality of the published books, Mehregan Prize secretariat, for the continuation and development of books as such, proposed, that along with election of the best scientific book, there would be the election of the most outstanding ecological figures and NGO’s, in respect with the impact of their efforts in preserving eco-system. This proposal was endorsed by the board of the Jury and is to be executed ever since and awards will be granted in these two respects too.

The evaluation process of these courses has terminated in spring of 2022 and the list of pre-final nominees in the best selected books, a life-time Attempt in the field of Ecology and the best NGO’s have been announced.
According to the pre-determined schedule, the final ceremony was supposed to be held in October 2022, but due to the present gloomy and bitter social circumstances, whose description was rendered, in October 2022, in the statement of the director and 24 members of the Jury, it was postponed to another occasion.
The Eighteenth and Nineteenth Courses | 2021-2022 (biannual):
The first-print books, the characters’ activities and NGO’s in the field of Iranian Ecology in 2021 and 2022 are being considered by the Jury board of Mehregan Prize of Science.
